Art Grant, Effigy, & Temple Grants Application Deadline Extended to August 18th

Currently we've only had 3 applications for an Art Grant submitted to the selection committee and no Effigy or Temple applications!

This is a big problem as without these applications, we will have no Effigy, no Temple, and very little art at Mosaic this year.

To help prevent this from happening, we've extended the deadline for applications to Sunday, August 18th, 2024 for Art Grants, Effigy, and Temple.

That way, those of you that are attending Lakes this year can also get a chance to decomp and submit your applications with plenty of time to write up your ideas.

So head on over to the Art Grants Page before August 18th for your shot at getting a grant to create something truly inspiring for Mosaic Experiment 2024: Lost & Found!

Art Grants Are Live!

Art Grants are now open and accepting your applications! Click here to fill out your application for funds to build this year's effigy, temple, or something uniquely you that will bring our theme, Lost and Found, to life!

Mosaic Experiment celebrates the art and creative contributions of folks from all walks of life and backgrounds. In order to embrace our principles of Radical Inclusion and Communal Effort, we sponsor these grants to help ensure that everyone who wants to, has a chance to build and bring their artistic visions to the event.

Deadline for Art Grant Applications is June 30th.

Deadline for Effigy and Temple Applications is July 23rd.

Visiting Artists Grant Accepting Applications Until August 27th!

Calling all artists with existing work! Do you or someone you know have completed artwork and would like a chance to share their unique creative spark at Mosaic Experiment? We want to help you get it here with a Visiting Artists Grant!

The VAG is open to all artists seeking a like minded, radically inclusive community that celebrates diverse voices, even if you haven't attended a ten principles/Burning Man event. We are a community of welcoming, surreal, playful, ridiculous, wondrous, and sublime contributors that celebrate weirdness, encourage participation, and build a magical space for self expression from the ground up.

We are specifically encouraging BIPOC artists, and artists from underserved populations to showcase their passion projects at Mosaic Experiment. As a community, we strive to take care of ourselves so we can take care of each other, and we want to help YOU with transportation expenses for your existing art. Come be part of the Experiment, and welcome home!

If you have a burning desire to share your art with us at Mosaic Experiment 2023, Celestial Chaos (taking place in SE Ohio, Sep 28 - Oct 3), fill out the application below by no later than 11:59pm EST, Sunday, August 27th to be considered for this opportunity to help fund the transport of your artistic vision. For more information regarding this and other art grants, visit the Art Grants & Effigy Page.

NOTE: The BAM acknowledges that the delayed info and the short application window for this new grant opportunity may give unfair advantage to those who have the freedom to shift gears and make plans quickly. We intend to do what we can to balance for that factor in 2023, and we promise it will be better next year.

ACCESSIBILITY NOTE: In consideration of the divergent minds among us, if the application process is a barrier to you for any reason, please feel free to submit grant requests by 11:59pm EST, Sunday, August 27th to: artgrants@mosaicexperiment.com.

Please include the following in your email:

  • your legal name, preferred or burn name, and pronouns

  • email address, phone number, mailing address

  • a few words about yourself.

  • name of your project with a brief description and history

  • a few photos of your project

2022 ART GRANT RECIPIENTS ANNOUNCED!

Big thanks to all of the artists who took the time to apply for a Mosaic Art Grant this year.

The flood of applications that came in between the original deadline and the extended deadline was quite impressive. We ended up with 15 applications and 11k in requests!

After careful review, assisted by our fabulous art grant selection team, and with the cooperation of several artists who worked with us in adjusting plans to reduce their budgets, we're delighted to announce 10 art grant projects for Mosaic 2022!

~MOSAIC 2022 ART GRANTS~

$360 to Sarita and team Spamarita to build the All Cats are Beautiful Temple

"All Cats Are Beautiful Temple is an immersive, multisensory, devotional temple in tribute to the purrtheon of cats, pusses and kittens, where we honor the majesty and subversive beauty our furry, feline deities in their eternal struggle against human and canine oppression."

$300 to SpaceCase and team a Web of Caseys to bring you Anansi's Twisted Tales

"Do you like to spin a tale? Want to play a part in the collective creation of intersecting narratives? Come weave your words and pictures into Anansi's web of stories at First Fires."

$200 to Andi "Fluffy" and team SpielBound Creations w/ Syncytium to bring you Iris Rains: A SpiderMonkey Tribute

"Come adorn yourself and explore untapped wisdom -what will you discover when you open the third eye portal?"

$330 to Jonah and the Stoop Kids to create Stoop of Threeseus

$100 to Bitch Titless of team Titless for UniTARDIS Project Improvements

$100 to Daphne and team Teatime, bringing you The Wayward Teahouse

"The Wayward Teahouse is a den of refreshment, relaxation, and whimsical conversation in a beautiful bell tent -- fall down the rabbit hole and come to our tea party!"

$180 to artist Luna Melt for the creation of We Are In Space

"A cosmic tribute to our community's resilience through the last two years' cycles of hope, joy, and grief, changing like the continual dance between the sun and the moon above us - because we are in space, no one knows what's going on, I love you."

“Letting Go" Wins Effigy Award for 2021

Who won our effigy award this year? Our art committee has been working hard, narrowing it down and we can now name our winner. That creative burner named Corvus will build our 2021 effigy titled “Letting Go".

Below, Mosaic Experiment's own Everyman sits down with Corvus to discuss his history with burning, his plans for 2021 and his project. It's pretty spectacular.

Also, they tip a hat to our discord experiment (you know, the 2020 virtual burn we never turned off) which you can find via discord.gg/ZfuEGHQ and please say hello to our house bot "Moe Zaic" while you are there.

What about awarding our temple design you may ask? We can't let all our big announcements out at once, right? Check back next week for a new interview featuring that design winner!
